2021 Primitivo
The 2021 growing season at Pelletiere Estate Vineyards in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles was marked by an exceptionally dry winter and spring, followed by consistently warm summer temperatures. These conditions led to reduced yields but resulted in an exceptional vintage with concentrated flavors.
Vinified using low intervention methods followed by eight months of aging in large neutral puncheons. The results are wonderful -all 59 cases!
Aromatic complexity: blackberry, fig, white pepper, and clove. Blackberry and cherry lead the wine. The tannins are plush, and rich acidity leads to a long and satisfying finish that lingers the entire length of the palate with flavors of dark fruit and spices. You could age this for the next five years, but honestly, why wait?
